NAHCC Indicators for Intervention (IFI) Coding Reliability Research Study

Thank you for participating in the Indicators for Intervention (IFI) reliability study. Your participation in this study allows us to identify the level of consistency of IFI coding within each profession participating in the IFI project. That is, it allows us to find out how much variation in coding occurs between individuals in the same profession. At no point in this study will your responses be linked to you individually.

Instructions:
In this study you will be asked to read each of the 20 case studies that will be presented to you and allocate the IFI code for each case. We understand that because of the setting you work in or your specialty area that some of the cases will not be typical of those patients you regularly see. However, we would like you to complete the cases anyway, as they represent a general range of presentations typically seen by clinicians in your profession.

Where possible please allocate only one IFI code. Only when the patient has a range of issues such that it is not possible to characterise the reason for your intervention with just one code, should you allocate a second IFI code. Please complete the cases independently, without collaborating with other professionals as we need to compare your responses.

After reading the case study you can allocate an IFI in the same way as on the electronic data entry system used in the IFI study. That is, by entering the code by typing it in, by choosing from a set of profession-relevant codes, or by choosing from a broader set of codes.

We request that you complete all 20 case studies, however, you can do this over a period of time. You will find a PAUSE button located at the top-left of the screen. Clicking on the pause button will allow you to logout of your current session and log back in later to complete the case studies. In order to log back in simply click on the web-link used to access the reliability study on-line and this will take you back to the point in the case studies at which you paused the last session.
